The Untold Stories
of Single Socks
Visual Data Comic | 2024
This short comic is a playful exploration of a very real mystery:
Where do all the missing socks go?
Based on data collected through a survey, The Untold Stories of Single Socks weaves statistics into a surreal narrative set in the fictional town of Sockford — a place where socks vanish under washing machines, get snatched by birds, or simply drift away.
My first attempt at comic-making was created in just a week and a half. I drew it digitally in Procreate. The process of experimenting and exploring with visual storytelling, rhythm, and layout gave me a lot of fun and a new experience.
This light-hearted yet reflective comic turns everyday experiences into something imaginative, reminding us that even lost things can tell stories.
This project was realised for the course Design Impact I at Aalto University, and the final
assignment was supposed to be a poster, which is why this comic takes on a vertical,
poster-like format.
